This webinar will provide a clinical practice update on the World Health Organization Consolidated Guidelines for the Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment of Postpartum Haemorrhage (PPH), released in late 2025, presented by Boe Calvert and Rachel Smith from the Burnet Institute’s Global Women’s and Newborn Health Group. The session will include an overview of the WHO guideline development process and the PPH prevention roadmap, key evidence informing the recommendations, including the WOMAN I and II and EMOTIVE trials, and a review of important clinical considerations such as anaemia, iron infusions and the physiology underpinning PPH risk. Presenters will also discuss medications including heat-stable carbetocin and tranexamic acid (TXA), and explore practical challenges in measuring blood loss, including the use of calibrated drapes and weighing. The session will include interactive polling and time for Q&A.
