Presenter
Dr Sharon Perrella is a registered nurse and midwife, and a Research Fellow at the Geddes Hartmann Human Lactation Research Group at The University of Western Australia. Sharon’s postgraduate qualifications include neonatal intensive care nursing and child, adolescent and family health nursing. She has been a IBCLC for over 15 years as an IBCLC and enjoys caring for families across the breastfeeding journey. Sharon’s research interested include preterm breastfeeding and milk production, and she has used ultrasound and intraoral vacuum measurement to examine sucking dynamics and suck-swallow-breathe coordination. Her current work focuses on the identification and management of women at risk of low milk production. Sharon is passionate about sharing research evidence with health care providers to inform clinical breastfeeding support.
