I’ve been a registered Midwife in South Australia since 1986 having been an RN first through Sturt College of Advanced Education I then became a Midwife through the old system - one year certificate at the Queen Victoria Hospital with the intention of doing home births. I gained my IBCLC qualification in 1992 after being frustrated at my own lack of knowledge. I’ve worked in Country SA at Mt Barker for 14 years as Community Midwife all the while practicing privately doing Homebirths and continuity of care.in the Adelaide hills (mostly). I’ve been a member of ACM and involved since the beginning with various roles at State and National levels My Lactation Consultant work took an interesting rebirth when I began to understand 6-7 years ago about oral restrictions, submucosal ties and breastfeeding.
