CEO Resignation

9 March 2021

The Australian College of Midwives (ACM) announces the resignation of the CEO, Mr Luke Williamson. On behalf of the Board and ACM membership we take this opportunity to sincerely thank Luke for his work with ACM during his time with us and wish him every success for the future.

Luke commenced with ACM in June 2019 and has worked to progress the strategy of ACM. Luke provided leadership in the development of the ACM strategic plan (2021 – 2023), he led an internal restructure to ensure a focus on the provision of services to members and he successfully guided ACM through 2020’s COVID-19 pandemic.

Our membership continues to grow and we have expanded the range of educational services for midwives. ACM is well positioned to progress our work to ensure that we continue to strengthen our position as the peak professional body for midwives in Australia. ACM is in a stable financial position and has begun to implement the 2021-2023 strategic plan. We will continue our focus to position and profile midwifery as the primary profession for quality maternity care.

An interim CEO will be contracted while ACM conducts a thorough needs analysis for the CEO position and then recruits accordingly. Luke will remain in his position until an interim CEO is contracted.
