From the NSW Branch
Welcome to information about the NSW Branch!
As well as consumers, midwifery students and academics, we comprise midwives who work in rural/tertiary/private practice and we meet for an hour every month. We are a diverse bunch but that is what makes us strong!
We’re really keen to hear from you and learn how we can best support our NSW midwives so please get in touch. Also - please join our private Facebook group.
During the last few years we have met online to discuss current issues, progress small projects, and promote woman-centred practices and models around the state and nationally.
Our midwifery students have been very active in organising ‘Midwifery mutterings’ sessions for their peers, inviting other midwives to talk about their practice and inviting students from around the state to participate in these informal sessions.
Other things that we do:
• Provide professional support through assisting to organise conferences and seminars
• Support ongoing education and clinical practice – more face-to-face sessions coming soon!
• Provide committee representation in the health, education and consumer sectors
• Advocacy
• Fundraising
• Social networking – we plan to meet for more social events face to face!
Please get in touch via email (see top right) if you would like to join one of our meetings or join our branch team. We would love to hear from you.
Yours in midwifery,
Vanessa Scarf (Chair, NSW Branch)
