Speakers

Assoc Prof Zoe Bradfield

Dr Zoe Bradfield holds a joint appointment as an Associate Professor of Midwifery between Curtin University and the Women and Newborns Health Service in Perth, WA. She is the current ACM President and has previously served as the WA Branch Secretary and as a Board Director and Vice President. Zoe has more than 20 years’ experience as a midwife in rural and metropolitan settings where she has worked across several different midwifery models. Her clinical experience has fueled her determination to see women across Australia have equity of access to midwifery continuity of care. She has a particular passion for developing clinician researchers and runs a Graduate Research Internship as well as a Senior Clinician Researcher Training Program, supporting midwives to develop research skills. Zoe’s Doctoral Thesis explored midwives’ experiences of being ‘with woman’ during labour and birth, in a variety of models, which has further galvanised her commitment to help strengthen the midwifery profession through leadership, education and research that makes a difference.

Prof Hannah Dahlen AM

Hannah Dahlen is the Professor of Midwifery and Associate Dean (Research and Higher Degree Research) in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Western Sydney University. She has been a midwife for more than 34 years. She is one of the first midwives in Australia to gain Eligibility and access to a Medicare provider number and prescribing rights following government reforms in 2010. Hannah worked for nearly 10 years as a privately practising midwife alongside her role as a Professor of Midwifery. Hannah has published over 300 papers and book chapters and has strong national and international research partnerships. In 2019 Hannah was awarded a Member (AM) of the Order of Australia (General Division) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for her significant services to midwifery, nursing and medical education and research. In November 2012 Hannah was named in the Sydney Morning Herald’s list of 100 “people who change our city for the better” and named as one of the leading “science and knowledge thinkers” for 2012.  

Alecia Staines

Alecia has an extensive career background in education, maternal health, stakeholder engagement and policy development. Her career has been dedicated to improving health outcomes particularly in maternity with a focus on rural, respectful maternity care and consumer engagement. As the Founder and Director of a national nonprofit organisation in the maternal health space, Alecia has developed and implemented policies and strategies at the federal, state and local levels. With a deep understanding of government health systems and the intricacies of health priorities, Alecia is committed to fostering improved maternal health initiatives. Recent work includes co-authoring the Guidelines for the Prevention of Perinatal Trauma and developing Respectful Maternity Care Training, which has been delivered to over 40 maternity locations across Australia.

Early Bird registration is available until 28 February 2025.  From 1 March 2025, regular ticket prices apply. 

The conference dinner is an optional add on during the registration process.  Tickets are $80.00 per person.

*Registrations that are made after 12 May are welcome.  However please note that dietary information is confirmed one week prior to the event as per venue requirements.  We can request dietary specifics with the venue but we cannot guarantee will be able to accommodate this at short notice.

Conference Dinner

We'd love to see you at the Tropical themed conference dinner on Friday 16 May!  The conference dinner is taking place at The Metropole Hotel, 81 Palmer Street.  Tickets are $80 per person for a 2 course meal and a Townsville Band "Shots Fired" to dance the night away. Tickets can be purchased by adding the Conference Dinner Program Item to your registration. 

Conference Venue and Accommodation

The conference is taking place at Rydges Southbank Townsville, 23 Palmer Street. Complimentary car parking is available for overnight guests.

Pre and Post Conference Sunset Sailing

Before or after the conference you have the option to join a sunset sail leaving Townsville Port, late afternoon.  These two social events are separate to your conference registration.  If you'd like to attend one of the sunset sails, please register for your preferred date via the links below:

Cancellation Policy

We understand that circumstances can change, however ACM has contractual commitments with venues for in person events and as such requires adequate written notice for any cancellations. From 1 January 2024, the following will apply to requests for cancellations/refunds:

  Cancellation more than 28 days prior to event date        - Full refund provided (minus an admin fee of $75.00) 
     
  Cancellation less than 28 days, but more than 14 days   - Credit applied to profile for future use (minus an admin fee of $75.00)
     
  Cancellation 14 days or less prior to event date    - No credit or refund provided
