As an MGP midwife you will be strengthening health care outcomes for women and their babies through the provision of safe, quality, clinically appropriate care, in collaborate with other health care workers in the multidisciplinary team, supported by a dedicated Obstetric Consultant and Registrar and working in-line with evidence based practice and local LRH guideline and policy.
Joining our team at LRH Women’s and Children’s Services presents an exciting opportunity, with expanded capacity and services including purpose build, state of the art and aesthetically pleasing birthing suites, a maternity assessment unit, and postnatal, neonatal, and paediatric wards. As a Level 5 Maternity Service and Level 4 Special Care Nursery, our Thomson unit also serves as a referral service for smaller Gippsland Regional maternity services

We are looking for candidates with:
• Current Registration or eligible for Registration as Registered Midwife (Division 1) with AHPRA.
• Recent competent clinical experience in all aspects of midwifery care, demonstrating ability to practice safe care in line with policies and directives, clinical practice guidelines and consistent with the AN&MC competency standards for midwives and the NSW Health Breastfeeding Policy and the BFHI Principles.
• Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, the use of information technology and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse/Midwife in applying these principles
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team

Demonstrated proficiency in clinical skills of or willingness to work towards:
• IV Cannulation
• Newborn examinations
• Perineal suturing
• IV cannulation
• Fetal scalp electrode placement
• Speculum examination
• Evidence of a current unrestricted class C driver’s licence and ability and willingness to travel for work purposes.
