What you'll be doing:
- The Midwifery Unit Manager will provide leadership in operational management, coordination of daily clinical activities and support staff working in the Maternity Service in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

- The Midwifery Unit manager acts as a professional role model to provide expert advice and support at all levels of midwifery staff to assist and oversee facility-based quality activities, procedures and relevant NSW Ministry of Health Policy Directives.

- Take responsibility for effective fiscal management of resources of Women's and Children's Health in Blacktown Hospital and across WSLHD.

- Maintain high midwifery care standards for patients to ensure safety, and quality in line with the philosophy of woman-centred care.

- The Midwifery Unit Manager is in control of all aspects of environmental and workplace safety

Essential Criteria:
Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Midwife (Division 1) and a post graduate qualification in Midwifery

Selection Criteria:
Current extensive experience in midwifery in caring for antenatal and postnatal inpatients
Demonstrated commitment to the effective and meaningful engagement of the multidisciplinary team in the decision-making process that impacts on positive women and newborn outcomes and maternity service.
Demonstrated understanding and commitment to continuous quality improvement and the ability to manage change
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a midwifery team within a multidisciplinary team environment
Demonstrated highly developed coaching, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills that demonstrate the ability to think critically and engage and enable a team
Demonstrated knowledge or experience of managing the financial responsibilities of a hospital ward effectively
Demonstrated sound knowledge of contemporary midwifery issues in maternity care and commitment to woman centred/evidenced based practice and strategic ideals
