The Transition to Practice Program aims to provide a safe and positive environment with a range of supporting resources to assist you as a newly qualified midwife to consolidate your skills and confidence in your professional role as part of a high-quality team oriented workforce.

The Role:
The Registered Midwife - Transition to Practice is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, clinically appropriate nursing care in collaboration with patients/clients, their families and the multidisciplinary health care team to achieve goals and health outcomes.

The Team:
The THS North West Graduate Midwifery and North West Private Hospital combine to provide a graduate year which has rotations to all aspects of midwifery including antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, pregnancy assessment and extended care midwifery. This allows graduates the opportunity to maintain working to the full scope of midwifery practice.

Details of Appointment
Fixed term, part time shift work, position working 68.4 hours per fortnight commencing from January 2023 until January 2024

On successful completion of the Transition to Practice Program, a change of employment status from fixed-term to permanent, may occur in accordance with Employment Direction No 1 and the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019.
Registered Nurse/Midwives are employed within the Classification range of Grade 3 Year 1 to Grade 4 Year 5. The salary range is $67,982 - $93,964.
Access to the Grade 4 salary range, available after you have reached Grade 3 Year 4, is $87,970 - $93,964 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
