New Perinatal Mental Health Guideline: What midwives need to know
 
With the release of the new 2023 Perinatal Mental Health Guideline, this webinar will take you through the latest 2023 Guideline updates and recommendations for the prevention, identification and care planning for perinatal mental health conditions. The webinar will also outline new areas in the Guideline, particularly screening and assessment for fathers and non-birthing partners as well as recommendations surrounding the management of birth trauma.  
 
As part of the training midwives will receive free access to the Guideline and psychoeducation resources to support expectant and new mothers, fathers and non-birthing parents.  Innovative solutions and updates pertaining to the national rollout of digital screening, updated online training, and e-referral pathways will also be discussed.

Dr Nicole Highet

Dr Nicole Highet is the Founder and Executive Director of the Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE) and Chair of the 2023 National Perinatal Mental Health Guideline Expert Committee.

Nicole founded COPE in 2013 to build a more sustainable, inclusive, and measurable approach to perinatal mental health in Australia. COPE has a dedicated focus on reducing the challenges faced by hopeful, expectant and new parents and supporting professionals in the identification, referral, and treatment of perinatal mental health conditions.

Ten years since its inception, COPE has developed innovative solutions to delivering best practice in perinatal mental health. This includes engaging and interactive approaches to psychoeducation, digital screening, online training, and e-referral pathways to care. All information is underpinned by the 2023 Australian National Guidelines.
